When you walk through those doors at work or through the front door of your home, you have the ability to chose to be remarkable, to do amazing work, to bring the best version of you. Unfortunately, you can also bring the lesser version of you. You know, the version that people hate and nobody wants to deal with. The version that makes people say “What’s her problem today,” “he’s a real jerk,” or “stay away from Timmy, someone peed in his Cheerios.”

Don’t waste those moments of truth when you have the choice to shine or to be crap! Be positive, bring your A game, and bring that all out, balls to the wall effort and action.

You don’t always get a second chance to showcase the best version of you!

So go.

Insecurities . . . .

You’re the little bastard that sneaks into our lives when we never even invited you.

You create unnecessary fears.

You cause great pain and struggles.

You make us feel uncomfortable and miserable.

You make us not want to change.

But you also create opportunities.

You make us explore ways to never remember you.

You force us out of our comfort zone . . . . and that’s a great thing.

If it wasn’t for you we wouldn’t push, pull and fight to make ourselves stronger.

You might control us now, but overcoming you is necessary to become remarkable.

So although we may never bid farewell to you, we say bring it on.

The butterflies and fears that you cause are an inspiration for greatness.

By Seth D. Cohen

I have always been a visual learner. I understand things better and get more motivated and inspired if I can see it versus just reading or hearing it. One of my goals with my website is to produce creative inspirational and motivational images. I have accomplished this through my creative inspiration page as well as my street action page.

In addition to these pages, I’m very proud to announce that I just launched the Why Be Remarkable? campaign. These images can be found at www.sethdcohen.com/ybr. This campaign showcases images on why you should be remarkable. I hope that even if you don’t have time to read my blog, you will become motivated and inspired by these images.

I decided to do something special for my latest Why Be Remarkable image seen below. If I receive 50 or more Likes in the next 24 hours on my Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/mindbodysync) for this image, I will donate $50 to the Wounded Warrior Project. I will post proof of my donation on my Facebook Page. So please check out my Facebook Page and Like this image.

Do you have that person in your office who comes to meetings and says nothing? They’re physically there but mentally they’re out to lunch or even worse counting down the hours until the work day is over. Probably would be better if they hadn’t come at all.

This new world demands that you add value. The days of simply doing your job and taking home a paycheck seems to be diminishing everyday.

I know that you think your safe if you just sit at your desk and do what your told. Do only just enough not to get you fired. It certainly is tempting and it requires very little brainpower or exertion.

Doing only just enough is a waste of space for the organization and a waste of time for any leader looking to build his team and/or business. The just enough mentality must change to a be remarkable at all times mindset.

With Gratitude,

By Seth D. Cohen The sports world is really screwed up. This week Lance Armstrong [...]

By Seth D. Cohen

The sports world is really screwed up. This week Lance Armstrong admitted that he lied about doping and then we heard about the elaborate hoax played on (or with his knowledge), Manti Te’o. This post isn’t going to be about these athletes, even though I looked up to Lance Armstrong, started biking because of Lance, bought Livestrong merchandise becasue of Lance, and now I think he is the scum of the earth but I digress. This post is about lying.

We have all had instances where we lied. We are human aren’t we? But as humans we can’t forget about our moral code. The code of honesty and being forthright. It’s not always an easy task to be honest and not be tempted to lie. Some may feel that great effort is required to tell the truth.

According to a recent study (Patterns of neural activity associated with honest and dishonest moral decisions by Joshua D. Greene and Joseph M. Paxton), parents may be best off trying to instill honesty in their very young children so that they grow up with honesty that is automatic, effortless, and not subject to temptation.

So with all this lying and the destruction that it has caused, I have come up with 5 ways to become remarkable. There is no scientific study to back this up but I don’t think it could be any more simple than this.

Don’t Lie

Never Lie

Stop Lying

Quit Lying

By No Mean Lie

By Seth D. Cohen Lately I have become so enraged and so frustrated about the [...]

By Seth D. Cohen

Lately I have become so enraged and so frustrated about the following topic – accountability.

There is no accountability today. Everyone is so scared of being wrong and losing their job, friends, clients and business that instead of being accountable for their actions and work, they simply blame their mistakes or failures on others or blame external forces. The crisis, for what I refer to as the finger pointing syndrome, has hit epidemic proportions.

Let me explain. When retailers miss earnings or have a reduction in revenues and sales, you never hear them blame it on poor products, bad marketing, bad leadership etc… They blame it on the weather. It was too hot, too cold, too snowy or too rainy.

Where did accountability and responsibility go? Why don’t our leaders make these traits a mandatory requirement and have them become part of the company culture? Why don’t parents teach their kids these key traits? WHY CAN’T THE FINGER POINTING STOP?

My perspective on the accountability problem is twofold. One, we don’t hold each other accountable for our tasks and projects (commitments) and two; we have way to much fear.

Accountability is vitally important in both our personal and professional lives. It’s time to create an environment where the finger pointing stops and where your personal success hinges on being responsible for your actions, not for avoiding them.

Who ever decides to read this post, you’re going to have to learn to get serious about what matters to people. People, employees, whom ever, don’t want your finger pointing crap anymore. You’re going to have to create an “I’m responsible for my actions mindset” and do whatever it takes to instill and drill it in you.

And by the way. If for one minute you think that no one notices that you finger point, that you take no responsibility, that nothing is ever your fault – - you’re dead wrong. We’re on to you and a remarkable person should never let them get away with this.

With Gratitude,

Monday morning got you down? Not feeling very motivated? Stuck in a certain motivational zone? Sometimes you need some music to get your motivational juices flowing. I found the perfect song for you – - Express Yourself by Labrinth. Turn up the volume and get motivated to start your day! The song will put a smile on your face.
